Romain Boubert founded MAES Paris in 2020 with the conviction that the future of leather goods could be both deeply rooted in craft and open to new materials.
Trained as an engineer, he has always been drawn to the intelligence of objects: the way they are conceived, constructed, refined and made to endure. His connection to leather goods began in the early 2010s, through encounters with exceptional artisans whose pursuit of perfection revealed the quiet emotion carried by objects made by hand.
The later discovery of bio-based alternatives to leather opened a new question: could the beauty, precision and feeling of traditional leather goods be preserved while imagining a more thoughtful path forward?
MAES Paris is the expression of that belief. Rooted in French craftsmanship and guided by material curiosity, the maison reflects Romain’s conviction that progress should not erase emotion — and that true refinement lies in the balance between beauty, intelligence and restraint.
